Procedure for Area Council electionsThe procedure for filing nominations and the casting and counting of votes for Area Council elections shall be the same as is applicable to other elections under this Act.
This section states that the procedure applicable to other elections under the Act shall also apply to Area Council elections.
Consequently, Area Council elections are to be conducted like any other election governed by the provisions of the Act.

Elections in Area Councils are the primary responsibility of INEC and by implication dependent on the
subsidiary legislations by the National Assembly like the Electoral Act which makes the procedure for
conduct of elections in the FCT the responsibility of INEC.
